We were asked to update an area of the showroom at a chandlery near Rugby. The company supplies fixtures, fittings and everyday items for living on a narrowboat and keeping it maintained.
They have a number of cooking appliances for sale to boat-owners, in varying sizes for different needs, and the stock changes from time to time. The brief was to create a display in the style of a galley kitchen, approximately 8ft long, backing onto a second similar unit. Both of these areas to have appliances fitted into them.
The design has taken into consideration that appliances of different shapes and sizes may need to be accommodated in the future, therefore the tops and fronts of the units are individually replaceable as the need arises.
Returning to the kitchen project we worked on last year, the next phase is to tile over the existing wood cladding. First, we protected the nice new worktop, then prepared the wall for tiling with nice, complementary ceramic tiles. Progress can be seen in the series of photographs, below:
Please follow this blog to find out about our current project, soon to be completed; re-fitting and decorating a period home in a country manor.
The old kitchen needed modernising and, preferably, before Christmas. The installation began in late October. The photographs show the dismantling of the original units to the completion of modern kitchen units plus a new worktop and the addition of number of new top cupboards.
The new cupboards, oven, hob and sink have been installed in time for a family Christmas. More work is required and the next job is tiling.
We’ll update our social media soon, too. Please look out for our next exciting installment!
